Mets Trade Rumors - Pitching 2010

With the trade deadline about a month away, teams’ are getting ready to unload high-priced players. One of those teams being the Seattle Mariners, who are 14 games out of first place in their division. One of the players who will get a lot of attention is LHP Cliff Lee, who has gone 6-3 with a 2.39 ERA and 76 strikeouts so far this season.
One of the frontrunners for Lee are the New York Mets, who have came back, and are now tied for first place in the National League East. The Mets are definitely looking to upgrade their starting rotation with the acquisition of Lee. There is pressure on the Mets GM Omar Minaya to acquire a good starting pitcher since in the off-season, he was unable to do so. Also the Mets are in need of a quality pitcher because it is highly unlikely that John Maine will pitch for the Mets for the remainder of the season.
The Mets are now in a pennant race and are going to need an upgrade in their starting rotation. They need this upgrade because the rotation the Mets have currently, is not going to be good enough to win the National League East, or get into the playoffs this year. The Mets would not mind dealing for Lee, but would not bother to negotiate a long-term contract extension beforehand. According to Yahoo! Sports, the team would not include Jenrry Mejia, Jonathon Niese, or Ike Davis in any trade for Lee.
